A woman has died and a major investigation is underway after a home’s ceiling collapsed during a DIY renovation gone tragically wrong.
The 64-year-old woman was in the kitchen of her rural home in East Nanango, Queensland, when the ceiling suddenly gave way on Monday.
The collapse trapped her under the rubble of the property on South Kerton Street, 125 miles northwest of the state capital of Brisbane.
Emergency services arrived at the house around 1:30 p.m. and tried to free the woman from the rubble.

Paramedics performed CPR but were unable to save her.
Aerial photos taken by 9News It turned out that the roof of the house looked intact from the outside.
Police are preparing a report for the Queensland coroner.
