Darwin has been rocked by tremors caused by a magnitude 5.6 earthquake in the nearby Banda Sea.
GeoScience Australia reported the earthquake at 4.56pm on Thursday at a depth of 153km.
According to reports, 292 people reported feeling tremors as a result of the seismic event, with the epicenter just off the coast of East Timor and the nearby Moluccas.

A tsunami warning was issued by the Bureau of Meteorology at 5.02pm, but there is currently no threat to Australia.

“Very long and scary…” another shared.
A third wrote: ‘I felt (an) earthquake in #Darwin’.
This comes after a similar event on May 25, where more than 600 residents in the Top End reported feeling tremors following a magnitude 6.2 earthquake in the Bandazee at around 1.30am.
