Eamonn Holmes has reportedly turned down a huge six-figure offer to star in Celebrity Big Brother 2025.
It is said that the 65-year-old GB News presenter was considered the ‘perfect housemate’, with producers keen to get him into the famous house, especially now that he has split from 64-year-old Ruth Langsford.
It was previously reported that Eamonn, who has started a new romance with 43-year-old Katie Alexander, is top of ITV’s wishlist for next year’s series, with bosses tempting him with a £250,000 fee.
Although the star was said to be ‘flattered’ by the offer, he ultimately turned it down as he reportedly feared being away from his girlfriend, who is 22 years his junior.
Eamonn, who suffers from mobility issues due to a long-term back injury, was also concerned about the potential lack of support he would receive due to his specific needs.
A source said The mirror: ‘Eamonn was approached to play Celebrity Big Brother. He was flattered by the offer and it was a huge six-figure sum. After seriously considering it, he finally rejected it. The logistics of navigating the house and needing a wheelchair were of great concern to him and he was not confident that the support he would need would be there.”

The insider went on to explain Eamonn’s concerns about not being in touch with his partner, with whom he has recently sparked engagement rumours, and who has been a ‘huge support’ following his split from Ruth.
They said: ‘Eamonn also values the time he spends at home with his partner Katie, and being separated from her for so long was not something he could come to terms with.’
They continued: ‘The producers were really keen to have Eamonn on the show, they saw him as a huge draw for viewers and were prepared to go all out. With his controversial views, he would be the perfect roommate. But Eamonn knows his limits, and the idea of being in such an unpredictable environment, without Katie and the support he relies on, made it a no-go.”
The publication reports that it was a ‘difficult decision’ for the broadcaster as the offer was ‘incredibly tempting’, but ultimately he had to put his health and mobility first.
After having surgery on his back in 2022 for a herniated disc, Eamonn cannot walk without assistance and is often dependent on a wheelchair or an electric mobility scooter.
The source added that it didn’t feel ‘realistic’ for Eamonn to enter the Big Brother house, due to the ‘all the challenge’ of trying to maneuver a wheelchair, with the star struggling to see how this would be practical are.
MailOnline has contacted representatives for Eamonn and ITV for comment.
