Eamonn Holmes appears to take a thinly-veiled swipe at Phillip Schofield

Eamonn Holmes appeared to make a thinly veiled swipe at Phillip Schofield on Friday amid his rumored feud with Holly Willoughby.

On Instagram, the presenter, 63, who presented This Morning with his wife Ruth Langsford, appeared to refer to her falling out with Phil.

In the photo he posted, he was holding a copy of Best magazine, which read, “Fight Ruth! Eamonn Exclusive.’

He captioned the post: ‘Battles with Ruth? Moi? Who would dare and live to tell the tale? Read all about it.’

His post came after Ruth previously complained to ITV bosses about Phil and his treatment of her while on This Morning.

It also came as ITV bosses reportedly held crisis talks about Phil’s future on This Morning amid his reported ‘feud’ with Holly.

Eamonn once called Phil “passive aggressive” and “arrogant” in the past.

Fans used the comments from the host’s latest Instagram post to tell Eamonn that they missed him and Ruth on This Morning.

One person said, “Great couple, you guys need to get back on TV,” while another added, “So a typical married couple?! It’s what we enjoyed when you were both on This Morning, with real chemistry.”

Eamonn replied, “Thanks for saying so” in response to the second comment.

MailOnline contacted ITV for comment.

The sun claimed in 2019 that Ruth had made an official complaint about Phillip.

Fans speculated that the moment Philip interrupted Ruth live on air in 2019 could have been the catalyst that triggered her complaint to ITV bosses.

In the clip, Ruth appeared at the end of This Morning to let viewers know what was going on that day on the Loose Women episode.

Towards the end of the segment, Phillip interrupted and said, “Guys, we’re going to have to jump in and hold you back I’m afraid because we’re kind of short on time at this end.” Thank you, Ruth.’

Missed: Fans took to the comments of the presenter’s latest Instagram post to tell Eamonn they missed him and Ruth on This Morning

Ruth, clearly unimpressed by Phillip’s interruption, replied, “Well, I only had two more words to say,” and looked away from the camera.

Phillip didn’t seem to notice Ruth’s reaction and went ahead with the end of This Morning with co-host Holly.

Elsewhere, amid rumors of their current feud, a “devastated” Phillip reportedly called Holly to discuss it and was reportedly “saddened” that she didn’t speak up, with a friend describing her silence as “deafening.”

However, it is said that Holly was ‘blindsided’ after her co-star released an extraordinary statement behind her back confirming rumors of a breakup.

Chiefs at ITV have now called meetings to discuss what to do next amid the duo’s falling out and Schofield’s popularity with the programme’s declining viewership.

And the Daily Mail can also reveal that the channel would not confirm that Monday’s episode of This Morning would run normally. The pair host the chat show together Monday through Thursday every week.

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Phillip and Holly’s feud has led them to abandon their annual routine of vacationing together with their families.

Amid reports of their feud, Phillip reportedly called Holly to discuss how publicly it has aired, after releasing a statement saying the past few weeks hadn’t been ‘easy’.

Phillip is reportedly “sad” that his words didn’t prompt Holly to also speak out about the alleged feud, according to The sun.

A friend told the publication: “It was tough between them, but for it to play out so publicly was the last thing Phil ever expected.

“He spoke to Holly on the phone about how this all turned out. He’s devastated and incredibly upset.”

Phillip’s contract is up for renewal in September, but as he’s taking the summer holidays off, his last episode would be in July if ITV cut him.

According to a source, Phillip wants to stay on This Morning and is “afraid” of being pushed out amid rumors of a feud with Holly.
