Tottenham supporters were stunned to see star defender Cristian Romero beaming as he spoke to Pep Guardiola after Man City’s win over Spurs.
City took a huge step towards securing a record-breaking fourth Premier League title by beating Tottenham 2-0 on Tuesday, while also eliminating Spurs from the Champions League race as Aston Villa secured fourth place in the table.
Romero has had a fantastic season at the heart of Ange Postecoglou’s defense and despite being beaten, he appeared in good spirits as he spoke to City boss Guardiola.
The combative Argentine centre-back was largely responsible for City’s opening goal after he was easily beaten in a footrace with Phil Foden before Erling Haaland put the visitors ahead.
He was further involved in another flashpoint in the second half after clattering into the head of City goalkeeper Ederson, forcing the Brazilian to withdraw due to concussion concerns.

However, it appears there were no hard feelings at full-time as Guardiola approached Romero and enjoyed a playful chat with the defender, who looked delighted.
The City manager regularly interacts with opponents on the pitch after matches and spoke briefly to Romero before lightly punching him on the chest.
The 26-year-old smiled back at the Spaniard before looking around with a smile on his face as other Tottenham players looked dejected after the defeat.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou later raged at his team and the club’s fanbase during his post-match press conference after some supporters in the stadium celebrated City’s victory as it dented Arsenal’s title hopes.

However, eagle-eyed fans who spotted the swap have warned Guardiola that Romero – who is under contract until 2027 – will not be joining Man City.
‘Now that it’s all over. Pep doesn’t even dare. He’s not going anywhere,” said a post on X.
Another comment read: ‘Pep tells him to go to a real club if he wants to win things, and Romero says guess you’re right.’
A third online message also said: ‘Lifetime contract please, I love this man too much.’
