A scooter rider has had his eye surgically removed after it was hit by a flying potato, now two men have been charged with the strange attack.
The alleged victim, 28, was riding a rental scooter with a friend along West Coast Drive in Perth on May 20.
As the pair approached the Mettams Pool, a group of men in a passing vehicle allegedly shot potatoes at them with a potato gun.

One of the men suffered facial injuries and a broken arm after being hit. The injury was so serious that he had to have his eye surgically removed.
Two Ballajura men, 19 and 20, were charged with the alleged incident after an extensive investigation by Mirrabooka detectives.
Midland District Inspector Brett Baddock said police allege the attack was planned but not targeting a specific person.
“It looks like those involved would enjoy using potatoes as projectiles, targeting people minding their own business and enjoying our coastal strip,” he said.
“This so-called fun has ended in tragedy, with the victim losing one eye.”
“Mirrabooka Detectives have relentlessly pursued this investigation and there are very serious consequences associated with the charges that have arisen from this investigation.”
He added that detectives would not stop until “they have found all those responsible.”

Police used CCTV footage, cell phone data and license plates to track down the two young men believed to be responsible.
The couple were charged with grievous bodily harm, committing an act that could endanger the life, health or safety or any person.
One of the men was also charged with gun possession, while the other was additionally charged with three counts of assault.
Both men will face Perth Magistrates Court on Friday over the attack.
