Billionaire Brexiteer Sir James Dyson founded the company in 1978 when he became ‘frustrated by the declining performance of his vacuum cleaner’.
He built the bagless vacuum cleaner that is now synonymous with the company, but has branched out into beauty products, such as the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, and even developed an electric car.
But he was charged with ‘treason’ in 2019 after moving Dyson’s headquarters from Wiltshire to Singapore.
The 75-year-old inventor is currently suing Channel 4 for libel over a broadcast alleging that workers are being abused and exploited at a factory that used to supply goods to his company.
