Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union’s trans daughter Zaya, 15, makes runway debut after gender change
Zaya Wade made her runway debut Tuesday when she walked for Miu Miu during Paris Fashion Week.
The 15-year-old fashionista, who was recently granted a legal name and gender change last month, stole the show in her olive green ensemble.
Zaya was supported by her father Dwyane Wade, 41, and stepmother Gabrielle Union, 50, who have championed the up-and-coming model since she came out as transgender in 2019 at the age of 12.
Dressed in sleek black attire, the two parents looked like the ultimate power couple as they beamed with pride in the front row.
Both Wade and Union posted video footage of Zaya’s big day to their respective Instagram accounts, captioning their posts with two simple words: “She arrived.”

The NBA star and A-list actress were joined by her stylist, Thomas Christos Kikis, who opened up about the moment on Instagram.
“Tears in my eyes as I watched @zayawade make her @miumiu debut today,” Kikis wrote, captioning her own video montage and slideshow.

Wade and Union accepted the prestigious President’s Award for their support of the LGBTQ+ community last month at the 54th Annual NAACP Awards.
Delivering a powerful speech, the former basketball player addressed his daughter from the stage, praising her for handling the ‘ignorance in our world’.
‘Zaya,’ he began, ‘like your father, all I’ve wanted to do is do well. I have leaned back and seen how gracefully you have taken on public scrutiny and although it is not easy, I have watched you leave the house every morning as yourself.

Dwyane continued: ‘I admire how you’ve handled ignorance in our world. I admire that you face it every day. To say that your people are proud of you is an understatement.
The proud dad went on to say, ‘Thank you for showing me that there is more than one way to communicate effectively. You taught me that communication with my mouth is not enough.
‘I also have to communicate with my two ears and my two eyes. As your father, my job is not to create a version of myself or direct your future. My role is to be a facilitator of their hopes, their desires, their dreams.’
Concluding his remarks, the 13-time NBA All-Star said: “Zaya, you have made me a better human being simply by being who you were born to be.” Our girl, Zaya Wade.
