The decorated striker at the Red Devils only had thirteen games left on a two-year contract.
Yorke is a national sporting hero in Trinidad and Tobago after captaining the team at the 2006 World Cup in Germany and also serving as assistant boss in 2009.

‘I look forward to working with this talented, close-knit group of players.

Yorke was sacked by A-League club Macarthur FC in 2023 after just 13 games and a two-year contract
‘As a player I have experienced incredible moments in a Trinidad and Tobago shirt.
‘I hope they can continue as head coach with this team.’
After CAS found that Macarthur had breached their contract, Yorke said: ‘I’m glad I’ve been proven right.
“That I was denied the opportunity to build on my work at Macarthur – which has already delivered results in the short term – will always be a source of sadness.”
The dismissal came after Yorke’s outburst after a defeat to Adelaide United, when he reportedly described Macarthur as a ‘pub team… run by muppets from top to bottom.’
Macarthur said the savage comments “damaged the club’s reputation and interests” after it became public and reported by the media.
The club said in a statement that the two parties agreed to mutually part ways, with Yorke deciding to ‘pursue other opportunities’.
But a FIFA Players’ Status Chamber found in June 2023 that Macarthur had terminated Yorke’s contract without cause.
