Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson finally addresses on set behavior controversy including ‘peeing in bottles’

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has finally addressed his behavioral controversy that arose earlier this year when it was reported that he was chronically late and even urinated in bottles.

The 52-year-old actor can be seen in the latest ‘Men Of The Year’ edition of GQ magazine where he touched on several topics, including claims that his chronic tardiness on the set of the new film Red One caused $50 million to be added to the film’s budget, bringing the total to $250 million.

Sources claimed that The cover in April that the action man – whose WWE nickname is ‘The Final Boss’ – had arrived on set a whopping eight hours late and the film crew had to shoot around him.

He told GQ: ‘Yes, that happens. But not that amount, by the way. That was a lot of bananas. That’s crazy. Ridiculous.’

One of the more interesting claims was that on sets of previous films, Johnson often urinated into a water bottle to save time, which the crew members were not happy about.

When asked about those claims in the new role, Johnson also admitted to these claims, replying: “Yes. That happens.’

An insider of An, who claims to know the film star well, said at the time: ‘On set, away from his trailer, he doesn’t go to the public toilet when he has to pee.

“He pees in a Voss water bottle and his team or a PA has to throw it away.”

Claims were even made to The Wrap that the star was not only late “an average of seven or eight hours” a day, but also missed entire days of production, adding eight figures to production costs.

“It was a fucking disaster,” one insider told The Wrap, while another said, “Dwayne really doesn’t care.”

However, The Rock called the overall controversy “bulls***” in the latest issue of GQ.

Red One co-star Chris Evans supported Johnson at the publication, saying, “In terms of the guy I saw, compared to some of the things I’ve seen in other movies with other actors who are not only oblivious to other the people’s time and efforts, but are they unpredictable?

“I found out that Dwayne – we all know exactly what he’s going to do when he’s going to do it.”

Since Dwayne is said to have often worked out in the morning before arriving on set, 43-year-old actor Chris said it was always assumed this would be the case.

The Captain America star said, “But this is something that the producers, the director and his whole team know, so they all know this. So it’s all basic. It’s not like he’s unexpectedly late, and I wouldn’t even call it late.

‘He comes a little later on certain mornings, but that’s part of the plan. It’s built into the schedules and everyone knows it, so he shows up when he’s supposed to show up.”

Chris once again came to his castmate’s defense and tried to avoid controversy when he highlighted on set one day that Dwayne had handed out a combined $100,000 to various crew members on set.

He explained, “The [giveaway] The pot was up to four or five grand or something, and before they got the name out, Dwayne said, “What’s the pot about now?”

“And someone said, ‘I don’t know, four thousand.’ And he said, “Let’s call it 20.” And they took a name out of it and whoever won lost it. Dwayne said, “You know what? Should we do it again? How about 30 this time?’ Everyone’s going crazy. And then he says, “You know what? How about one more?” And there were fifty of them. I think Dwayne gave away something close to a hundred thousand dollars on a Friday.”

Red One director Jake Kasdan also backed Dwayne and amplified Chris’ claims, saying, “[Dwayne] I’ve never missed a day of work.

“He’s got a lot going on. He can be late sometimes, but that’s the case with Hollywood, it’s the case with everyone. To be honest, I did three big films with him. I’ve never seen him be anything but wonderful to everyone on set.”

Red One – which also stars Lucy Liu – hits US cinemas on Friday, November 15

In April, a spokesperson for Amazon MGM – the film studio behind the film – responded with a strong denial of the allegations in the original report.

The studio rep told The Wrap, “Dwayne Johnson and [producer] Seven Bucks have been great partners in Red One, a film that viewers of all ages will love this holiday season.

“Our testing was very strong – the response from CinemaCon speaks for itself – and we couldn’t have made it without Dwayne’s constant commitment and support. Any reporting that implies we got to this point because he showed up seven and eight hours late is both ridiculous and untrue.”

Two additional sources close to production also told the publication that Johnson was on average no more than an hour late to the set.

Meanwhile, another insider close to Amazon MGM said the budget actually never strayed far from the green-lit figure.
