Duskmourn Preview Tickets Include an Obnoxious Little Blue Booklet and a New Attraction at Six Flags

It’s preview season for Twilight Mourningthe new high-concept card set for Magic: The Gatheringand that means lots of new card images are popping up online, inspired by 80s slasher films and the sticky exudations of retro shows like Stranger Things. If you have an eye for good horror, and an ear that likes to listen for new rules and mechanics, then I have a few images for you.

The first is Grimoire by Marina Vendrella blue-mana artifact with some interesting new mechanics. The younger Vendrell child may have brought about the creation of the entire plane of Duskmourn by making a pact with a moth-shaped demon, but who among us didn’t make a few mistakes in our youth? This particular card allows the caster to remove the hand size restriction and draw cards instead of gaining life. And? You don’t lose the game if you’re depleted to zero life. Instead, your game isn’t over until you run out of cards in your hand. Shown here is the standard card, as well as the more desirable alternate art treatment, which features some whiz-bang spectral tech around the edges.

The next one is The Rollercrusher Ridea legendary spell fueled by red mana. The effect, called delirium, was first introduced with Shadows over Innistrad in 2016. It can deal massive damage when cast, and adds extra destruction based on what you have in your graveyard. So? Look closely at the card on the right and you’ll notice another creepy guy sitting atop the central tower. It’s one of several cards in the set to feature subtle, mostly spooky art styles.

The Rollercrusher Ride also comes in a similar techno-rimmed, alternative art finish.
