Four people including two children are rushed to hospital after a horror crash between two cars on a country road

A woman and a young girl have been airlifted to hospital, while a man and a young boy have also been injured after a horrific two-car crash in central NSW.

The collision happened just before 3pm on Saturday on Duramana Road, in Duramana, near Bathurst.

Several ambulance crews, including helicopters, were called to the scene, where they remained for an hour.

A woman in her 20s suffered head, chest and leg injuries and was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A girl under the age of 12 was also flown to Westmead in a serious but stable condition with abdominal injuries.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with leg injuries and is in a stable condition.

A boy was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A fifth patient was examined at the scene but did not require further treatment.
