Dunkin’ has added an all-new value meal to its menus nationwide, in response to fierce competition from Starbucks in 2024.
The coffee chain announced the arrival of the temporary value meal and other new dishes in a press release on August 28.
The $6 combo includes a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, hash browns and a medium coffee.
The affordable meal and other new items were added just days after Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte returned to the menu, earlier than ever before.
Dunkin’ revenue for 2023 was nearly $1.5 billion, well short of the $36.476 billion Starbucks earned in the 12 months ended June 30, 2024.
Dunkin’ announced the arrival of its brand new $6 meal in an August 28 press release. It comes with a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, hash browns and a medium coffee
This meal is only available for a limited time, and Dunkin’ has not yet announced when the offer will expire.
Dunkin’s foray into value menu items comes two months after Starbucks announced its own combos.
The chain is now offering a large iced coffee or hot coffee or an iced tea or hot tea with a croissant for just $5. And if you want to upgrade your croissant to a breakfast sandwich, that’s $6 under their new deal.
In July 2024, Dunkin’ generated annual revenue of about $750 million. These deals will bring its revenue closer to the $1 billion mark.
Dunkin’ described the value meal as “a huge hit with breakfast lovers” and “another reason” for customers to visit one of Dunkin’ locations.
In addition to the $6 meal, Dunkin’ has added its first-ever coffee milk latte, called the Dunkalatte.
The Dunkalatte is a combination of espresso and coffee milk – the official state drink of Rhode Island.
When all the ingredients are combined, customers can enjoy “a super smooth drink that drinks like a latte and tastes like a melted milkshake,” according to a Dunkin’s press release.
Dunkin’s favorite pumpkin drinks also returned to the menus, including the Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte
Dunkin’ has also ramped up the competition by putting the Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte back on the menu.
This popular drink comes in hot or iced varieties and consists of espresso and milk with pumpkin and vanilla flavors.
The latest drink Dunkin’ added to its fall lineup this week is Almond Spice Coffee, an original iced or hot coffee blend with hints of pumpkin and toasted almonds.
Other familiar Dunkin’ favorites now available across the country include the Maple Sugar Bacon Breakfast Sandwich, Loaded Hash Browns, and Banana Chocolate Chip Loaf.
The long-running competition between Dunkin’ and Starbucks has not gone unnoticed this year.
More than one X user has purchased Dunkin’ items claiming they were implemented for competitive and age-based purposes.
The additions to the Dunkin’ menu were announced less than a week after Starbucks brought back its seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte earlier than ever
“In the case of the US, Dunkin’ Donuts has launched a new line of iced energy drinks aimed at younger customers,” said one X user wrotereferring to the chain’s Tornado Twist Spark’d Energy drink.
User X then claimed that Starbucks is fending off “increasing competition” by focusing its marketing more on Gen Z and millennials.
“I think the message of Dunkin’ Donuts is clear. It wants to be different from its competitors (Starbucks) – it wants to be there for the common man, to accompany them in their daily lives and to be something simple to buy,” tweeted another X user.
In addition to the new menu items, Dunkin’ is offering several limited-time deals for its rewards members.
Now through September 12, Dunkin’ Rewards members can enjoy a $2 Green Goddess Wrap with the purchase of any beverage.
Through September 2, with every beverage purchase, they can also enjoy a Dunkin’s Croissant Stuffer for $2.
Other offers available next month include bonus points, $1 muffins, $3 Dunkalattes and $1 off a half dozen donuts or 25 Munchkins Donut Hole Treats.
