Dua Lipa hits back at miming claims after fans accuse her of lip-syncing songs during headline Glastonbury set
Pop star Dua Lipa defiantly told The Mail on Sunday yesterday: ‘I don’t lip-sync’, after fans accused her of lip-synching during her Glastonbury performance.
It was the 28-year-old’s dream to play the world-famous Pyramid stage. But her performance in front of tens of thousands of fans on Friday was plagued by accusations that she did not actually sing on stage.
However, when our reporter found her in the VIP area yesterday, she shrugged off the criticism.
“I don’t mime,” the Grammy Award winner said as she toasted her headline success with her actor boyfriend Callum Turner, 34, at an exclusive bar on the festival grounds at Worthy Farm.
The pair were seen cuddling after arriving from their luxury hotel, ten miles from Glastonbury.

She wore a white camisole with a black skirt and carried a £1,600 crystal-encrusted Prada bag, which she teamed with chunky black boots.
The singer was accused of lip-syncing on Friday evening by those watching the BBC’s coverage of the festival.
‘Imagine paying all that money to go to Glastonbury and standing there watching Dua Lipa mime the song and not even sing it. How awful,’ one person said.
Another wrote online: ‘Dua Lipa does a Top of the Pops mime set’.
On X, formerly Twitter, someone wrote: ‘It’s a shame #DuaLipa can’t sing live. Don’t stand up for glasto and mime. Garbage.’
Another said: ‘Dua Lipa has some pretty catchy songs but I’m pretty sure she’s lip-syncing. Sounds like a live vocal but I’m just not convinced she’s singing it live “right now”.’
According to well-informed sources, the claim about the mime artist is incorrect.
During Ms Lipa’s performance, there were numerous large Palestinian flags so close to the stage that they were visible on both the large screens in the hall and on the BBC coverage.
Earlier, the singer urged world leaders to help de-escalate the crisis in Gaza and Israel.
Although she did not directly comment on the war during her performance, which included hits such as Levitating, she did appear to run into the crowd to sing closer to a flag that read “Glasto for Palestine.”
Last month she posted to her 88 million Instagram followers: “Please show your solidarity with Gaza.”
“Burning children alive can never be justified. The whole world is mobilizing to stop the Israeli genocide. Please show your solidarity with Gaza,” she wrote on Instagram.
Many viewers were captivated by the singer’s two-hour performance at Glastonbury, calling her performance “magical” on social media.
‘Smashed it dua lipa’ and ‘Dua Lipa is actually quite good. I only know One Kiss but her voice is better than I thought. I look forward to seeing her in the Sunday afternoon legend slot in about 25 years’.
Dua said she had dreamed of headlining the Glastonbury Festival ‘all her life’ as she opened the Pyramid stage.
The pop superstar opened her debut headline performance at the British festival with an impressive choreography set to her hit Training Season from her third studio album, Radical Optimism, which was released earlier this year.
She told the audience: ‘I can’t believe it, I’ve dreamed of this all my life.’
During her performance, the audience could be heard loudly singing along to the lyrics of her 2018 song One Kiss with Calvin Harris.
Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis said the pop star was “born” to headline the festival.

Other celebrities seen at the festival included Alexa Chung, actress Anya Taylor-Joy and model Cara Delevingne. TV presenter Maya Jama was also spotted with her rapper boyfriend Stormzy.
Some festival goers chose crazy outfits to watch the performances. One even hopped around like a kangaroo.
On Saturday, Coldplay were scheduled to headline the Pyramid stage for their fifth performance at the festival.
Two show business veterans have previously performed. Pop icon Cyndi Lauper sang hits like Girls Just Wanna Have Fun on the main stage.
And actor Russell Crowe flew in for his festival debut on Friday, playing on the acoustic stage with his band, Indoor Garden Party.
Rockers Kasabian performed as a secret act yesterday and caused chaos after too many people showed up. Access to the stage had to be closed due to fears of overcrowding.
It is understood Glastonbury bosses have told partners to limit celebrity invitations this year amid fears the venture could ‘lose its down-to-earth roots’.
But no one seemed to have passed that on to chic pop-up club Soho House, which served sea bream for £34.
