Dryleaf Dane questline walkthrough for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
Dry-leaved Dane is an NPC you encounter while exploring Scadu Altus Elden Ring‘S Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Technically, you can meet him a little earlier – as a summoning sign during Rellana and Twin Moon Knight’s boss fight in Castle Ensis.

Dryleaf Dane location
You will find Dry-leaved Dane as you explore Scadu Altus. You will find it at the Moorth Ruins Place of Mercy.

Technically, your first encounter with Dryleaf Dane takes place just outside the boss fight between Rellana and Twin Moon Knight. Both Dry-leaved Dane And Needle Knight Leda can be summoned to help you fight.
Pick up the “May the best man win” gesture and Monk’s mission
Your next step on Dane’s quest line is the Grace’s Highroad Cross site which you’ll find just north of Castle Ensis – your first stop in the Scadu Altus region. As you approach the site of mercy, you can pick up two items related to Dryleaf Dane: the Monk’s mission and the Gesture ‘May the best win’.

The Monk’s Missive is a short note stating that a monk somewhere in the east wants you to challenge him to a battle wordless.
Challenge Dryleaf Dane at Moorth Ruins

When you arrive at the Moorth Ruins Place of Mercy, Dryleaf Dane will be standing nearby. However, he doesn’t want to talk to you; he is the monk from that message, so you have to challenge him without words. Enter the Gesture ‘May the best win’ in front of him, and you start a fight.
Once Dane is defeated, he will disappear and you will find the Dryleaf Arts weapon and Dane’s Hat helmet on the ground nearby.
