Man drowns during evening swim at Cabbage Tree Bay Beach

A 73-year-old man has died after drowning at a popular beach.

Emergency services rushed to Cabbage Tree Bay near Norah Head, on New South Wales’ central coast, at around 6.20pm on Tuesday.

The man was pulled unconscious from the water while members of the public performed CPR until police arrived.

Paramedics arrived shortly afterwards and he was taken to Wyong Hospital where he died a short time later.

NSW Police have launched an investigation into the incident and will prepare a report for the coroner.

According to the Royal Life Saving Summer Drowning Toll, the 73-year-old’s death is the 55th since the start of the summer 2024-2025, which starts on December 1.
