Driver taken into custody after smashing car into New York subway station entrance

A driver was taken into custody Friday morning after a car crashed into a New York City subway entrance.

Reports emerged that a car crashed into a Washington Heights subway stop around 9:26 a.m.

Police quickly arrived on the scene and expressed concerns that the driver may have been trapped in the car. An ambulance was called to the scene at 9:30 am.

The car was removed from the scene just before 10 a.m., police said.

An NYPD spokesperson told DailyMail.com: “Officers responded to the 911 call at 157 Street.

‘Upon arrival, officers discovered that a vehicle had collided with a subway entrance.

“No injuries have been reported, the driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody and an investigation is ongoing.

“No charges have been filed at this time.”
