A driver who ran into a parked car and left only an apology note has been slammed online for their ‘dog act’.
A woman had ducked out for a cup of coffee Friday morning at the Blackwork Cafe in Croydon, east Melbourne – only for a driver to hit her car parked right outside the cafe.
The selfish driver left a note apologizing, but left no details.
“Sorry you hit your car, I can’t afford the repair,” the note read.
A woman ducked to have a cup of coffee on Friday at the Blackwork Cafe in Croydon, Melbourne – only for a driver to hit her car parked right outside the shop
Desperate for the driver’s identity, the woman contacted locals on a community Facebook page.
“I saw this lovely note they left on my windshield while I was driving home,” she said in a message.
‘Unfortunately the cafes/shops there don’t have cameras, but there were a few sitting outside having breakfast who may have seen the person stick a note on my car.
“If anyone saw this happen and would be able to get details of the person’s car etc. I’d really appreciate it if you message me!”
Many, including the driver himself, speculated that the other motorist left a note only because people were watching.
Many online users criticized the driver for failing to leave his details after hitting the woman’s car
‘Scandalous. Can’t afford this? Shouldn’t be driving. Good luck getting your money’s worth from this human paraquat,” one person wrote in the post.
‘People come through difficult times, but they still need to be held accountable for their mistakes. How disappointing,” commented another.
A third user said, “Leave a note to cover yourself in case someone is watching.”
One user even called the decision to leave only an apology note on the windshield ‘a real dog act’
“That’s a real dog act,” said another man.
The woman said they probably only wrote the note “because there were people around and probably thought they were leaving their details.”
“I’ve heard from a few people that there are CCTV cameras in the street, so I’ll see what I can get,” she said.
