A driver has been taken into custody after his vehicle crashed into the gates surrounding the White House.

The arrest was confirmed Monday evening by Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

He said the crash occurred on the east side of the White House complex, near Pennsylvania Avenue and 15th Street.

“Shortly before 6 p.m., a vehicle collided with an exterior gate of the White House complex,” he wrote on X.

“The driver has been taken into custody and we are investigating the cause and manner of the collision.

“Expect traffic impacts at 15th Street & Pennsylvania Ave and adjacent intersections.”
