There’s a photo of the driver throwing a puppy out the window of his car before starving dog Apollo is rescued by North Carolina animal shelter
- A puppy has been rescued after being ‘violently’ thrown out of a car window
- It happened outside the PAWS Bryson animal shelter in North Carolina
- The man responsible has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty
Shocking footage has emerged of the moment a driver threw a puppy out of his car window and left the animal to fend for itself in North Carolina.
The footage shows the malnourished dog flying through the air after being launched from the vehicle near the PAWS animal shelter in Bryson.
The abandoned pet wandered alone for days before it was found starving and covered in fleas, while center staff took him into their care and named him Apollo.
In a Facebook post, they shared footage of the ‘heartbreaking’ CCTV footage and appealed for the public’s help to identify the man responsible and find the injured puppy.
They said that even though their gate was open, the man still chose to hurl the puppy out of his window.

The video itself was so “heartbreaking” that the shelter wouldn’t share it.
They said, ‘We wish the person who did this would have done the right thing and driven through the gate so we could help them instead of throwing this poor, innocent dog out the window.’
PAWS appealed to the public to help find the dog and bring it to safety.
Four days after the desperate plea for help, the shelter confirmed that the abandoned puppy had thankfully been found on September 12 and was in their care.
However, the poor animal was ‘malnourished and covered in fleas and parasites’.
He also has some minor abrasions and two minor fractures from the brutal throw.
The man responsible has now been identified, arrested and charged with animal cruelty, PAWS director Beth Stroud said USA today.
She added, “Our shelter gate was open. He chose not to even come through the gate. He had never called before.

Nearly a week after the desperate plea for help, PAWS confirmed the puppy had thankfully been found
PAWS said that ‘considering what he’s been through, he’s doing great’ and that staff lost sleep trying to find the puppy as it ‘took a village’ to find him.
In a Facebook post, the shelter wrote: “Little Apollo (the name given by PAWS staff) would like to thank everyone for all the prayers over the past few days and thank everyone who came out looking for him.
“He knows everyone has been worried about him after seeing the video of him being violently thrown out of a car.”
The post contains more than 500 comments expressing relief that little Apollo has been found and anger at the man responsible.
One person wrote: ‘Grateful that he was found and is now in your hands… I also hope that those who kicked him out are found and karma gets them.’
Others added: ‘Literally crying. I’m so happy he has been found and is now safe!’ and “I’ve been looking for him and thinking about him daily since I saw the post!” Soooo very happy that he is safe and getting the well-deserved love.
