A man has been charged with a series of charges after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and losing control of his pickup truck. The truck crashed into another car, injuring a six-year-old girl and causing the truck to burst into flames.

The 29-year-old man is accused of causing a burnout in his Ford Falcon pick-up on Stapylton Jacobs Well Road near Gilberton on the northern Gold Coast at 10pm on Friday night before losing control of his vehicle.

This caused the pickup to collide with a Holden Commodore, driven by a 30-year-old man and carrying a six-year-old girl.

The driver of the Commodore was not injured, the girl suffered minor injuries.

Although the pickup caught fire, the driver was not injured.

He has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (0.104), dangerous driving, driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle and theft (fuel).

The man is due to appear in court in Beenleigh on Monday.

Under these laws, participating in any hooning event, from illegal street races to burnouts, is a criminal offense.

This also means encouraging others to watch or participate in such activities.
