Drew Barrymore reveals her secret battle with ‘self-doubt’ as she prepares to visit Australia for the first time in five years

The 49-year-old actress will take the stage as guest of honor at wellness brand Wanderlust’s ‘True North’ event.

And in a candid interview with the Sunday Telegraph Before her visit, Drew opened up about her ongoing struggle with self-confidence, despite her phenomenal success.

“I was living in the most unsafe place I’ve ever known, so I was always going outside, drinking a lot and doing all sorts of things to escape from this cage,” she admitted.

‘I don’t know. I’ll be 50 soon and then I’ll have to build a house here where it’s nice to live, because the outside world is out of my control…’

“I want to be able to turn inward and know that I can find peace there. That’s a shocking turn of events.”

The actress also reflected on her struggle with self-criticism, saying she feels like everyone looks at themselves with “negative self-talk, which is critical and unaccepting.”

Drew, known for her starring roles in Charlie’s Angels and The Wedding Singer, will share her life’s journey with audiences at the ICC Sydney Theatre on August 2 and the Brisbane Convention Centre on August 3.
