You probably won’t see Drew Barrymore’s kids playing on an iPad.
The actress, 48, has revealed that she keeps the tablets in a safe to limit the time her daughters Olive, 10, and Frankie, nine, spend on them.
Speak with Better houses and gardensDrew says she sometimes whips out an iPad — but only for “special occasions.”
“We watch a lot of movies and shows, so I’m not judging anyone about screens. But when it comes to my kids, I’m not a big fan of personal electronics like iPads,” explains the talk show host.
“During the pandemic when schools were virtual, we were all forced to be on our separate devices and I didn’t like that.

“Now I keep the iPads in a locked safe and they only come out on special occasions. I’d rather the three of us crawl into my bed and watch together.’
Drew shares her two children with her ex-husband, Will Kopelman, to whom she was married from 2012 to 2016.
In the interview, the actress talked about her passion for all things interior design and an almost career switch to the medium before becoming the host of her hit talk show.
In her photo spread, Drew looked gorgeous in a satin collared shirt, black tie, and dyed maxi skirt.
She crafted a jade green suit in another shot as she posed by a wall of inspiration.
On the cover, Drew saw a huge smile while decked out in a sheer, multi-colored tunic that fell over fuchsia pants.
In addition to her acting career, Drew has a cosmetics line, self-titled magazine, cookbook, and homewares collection for Walmart.
The actress is constantly looking for her next design inspiration.
“I’ll chase someone down the street and ask, ‘Can I please photograph your shoe? It’s the perfect coral,'” she explained to the publication in an interview ahead of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

‘And when I find such an inspiration, I will search until I find something to apply it to. Otherwise I will go completely crazy with passion without an outlet.
She even considered switching careers to interior design.
“There was a long period of time when I thought I could do interior design and that would make me happy,” she said.
“I could do all my thrifting and shopping; I could make things unique – I’ll never be a cookie cutter. I thought I could even do a show around it. And that’s where I went when this woman called and said, “Would you ever consider doing a talk show?”

When she launched her Flower Beauty cosmetics line, she remembered the valuable business advice given to her by her former father-in-law, Arie Kopelman. Kopelman’s illustrious career included President and COO of Chanel and a history in advertising.
At the time, Barrymore was wrestling with what color scheme to apply to her packaging.
Kopelman urged her to differentiate herself from the competition by finding the gap in the market.
“When I launched Flower Beauty, I had a hard time choosing between two very different packaging color schemes,” she said.
“His advice was, ‘Go out and see everything. Then ask yourself what you didn’t see and do that.’ It was such a brilliant lesson from him and made everything so clear because design is really about filling gaps in the market and coming up with solutions for how to live. It’s not coming from some ethereal, artsy place.”
Barrymore’s interview appears as part of Better Home and Garden’s Stylemaker Issue, out August 21.
