A family is suing Dreamworld after a six-year-old boy broke his arm so badly in a fall there that it may never fully heal.

The family visited the Gold Coast theme park’s Night Market event on June 11 when he fell up to two metres from a stationary train attraction, breaking his arm in several places.

In a video posted to YouTube on July 2, three weeks after the Gold Coast boy’s fall, the train can be seen with a ‘Do not climb’ sign in front of it.

His father, Josh, said there were children climbing on the train at the time of the fall, and claims there was no signage or fencing around the attraction which was not well lit.

‘He slipped off the train, the surface was concrete and he broke his humerus bone straight through,’ the dad told the Courier Mail

Josh said his son’s arm took the brunt of the fall and that orthopaedic surgeons told him it was as bad a break as you could get.

‘The doctor said to us, if he did to his head what he did to his arm, we wouldn’t be in this situation. It’s a horrible thing to say, but it would be another fatality,’ he said.

Josh said his child was traumatised by the fall, and is now  facing multiple surgeries.

The boy now has several steel rods in his arm and it is possible he may never make a full recovery.

Shine Lawyers solicitor Vernesa Rogulja, who is representing the family, said they just want to ensure Josh doesn’t suffer financially in the future.

‘We’re not talking about someone out for a big payday, this is a genuine case where a six-year-old has fallen,’ she said.

‘We don’t know what his recovery looks like yet.’

Dreamworld said it ‘acknowledges the recent incident in which a child climbed onto a stationary children’s photo opportunity and subsequently fell from it, sustaining injury’.

‘Our thoughts remain with the child and his family, and we wish him a full and fast recovery,’ its spokesperson said.
