The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 65-foot lobster boat and its crew after it lost all steering gear and became adrift in waters southwest of Nantucket.
Crews from Station Brant Point in Nantucket and Air Station Cape Cod responded to a call from the ship named Two Dukes around 9:30 a.m. earlier this week.
Four crew members and a dog were rescued. The captain was found with facial injuries after a window blew out during heavy seas, leaving him injured.
The four-person rescue crew found Two Dukes seven miles southeast of Martha's Vineyard.

The captain and first mate remained on board to assist in towing Two Dukes.

Station Brant Point Chief Lance Wiser praised his crew despite challenging weather conditions.
“Conditions were still rough on the south side of the island. We went outside to train during the worst of the storm yesterday, to prepare for cases like this.
'I couldn't be more proud of this team. First severe weather SAR case of the winter season. Seas from fifteen to six meters high, shoals everywhere. The fishermen were extremely grateful.'

Station Brant Point (BM2) boatswain's mate Chad Austin said of the incident: 'With the boat dead in the water and trapped between multiple shoals, it was the worst sea state I have seen in my four years here and definitely the most aggressive one I have ever seen. ever been a newly certified heavy weather helmsman.
'My crew made it very easy for me as a boat driver. We trusted our training and in the end everything went as smoothly as possible'
