Dramatic moment train smashes into ute at a level crossing seconds after pair jumped out of stricken vehicle

The driver of a pickup truck and his passenger had a lucky escape just before the vehicle was hit by a train at a level crossing.

The car became stuck on the level crossing in Herne Hill, Perth, on Thursday evening after colliding with another vehicle.

The pair jumped out of the pickup before the train collided with it.

They were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
