Drake’s Los Angeles show almost got canceled due to logistical issues — as he tells the audience to ‘keep your bras on’ because his son saw him perform for the first time
For Drake, the show must go on and that’s exactly what happened Saturday night in Los Angeles.
His Blur tour was set to play the first of four dates at the Kia Forum when a snafu reached production.
When Drake took the stage, he explained to the audience that production issues almost canceled the show, but insisted they sort it out so he wouldn’t have to cancel due to the large crowd.
The Hotline Bling rapper, 36, said there were problems setting up his elaborate stage and his crew recommended its cancellation.
He told his crew to find a way to make it work and they did.
Dad: For Drake, the show has to go on and that’s exactly what happened Saturday night in Los Angeles.
Drake’s August 6 show in Memphis was postponed due to similar logistical issues when it was determined that his stage couldn’t possibly fit into the city’s FedEx Forum.
And it’s a good thing the show happened when Adonis, the Rich Flex singer’s five-year-old son, was in the house and it was the first time he had seen his father perform.
At one point, the singer of Toosie Slide serenaded his son.
Typically at Drake shows, fans throw their bras and other undergarments onto the stage. When that started happening on Saturday night, the Canadian put an end to it.
“I can’t talk about t***ies tonight in LA because my son is on the show for the first time ever.”
“So we have to have this real PG tonight. You keep your bras on,” he added.
Drake and his opening act 21 Savage performed until nearly midnight after starting the show late.
During the concert, the God’s Plan hitmaker told the audience that LA was like a second home to him.
He added that the City of Angels has a special place in his heart and he didn’t want to let his LA fans down.
