Drake loses $1MILLION after Edmonton Oilers defeat to Florida Panthers as ‘curse’ strikes again after betting on Stanley Cup and NBA Finals
Drake lost $1 million in sports betting this past week after the Florida Panthers won their first Stanley Cup title by beating the Edmonton Oilers in seven games.
It will come as no surprise that the Canadian rapper bet half a million on the team north of the border, which would have earned him $1.25 million.
Despite overcoming an 0-3 deficit to force a Game 7 on Monday, the Oilers unfortunately fell short of their sixth franchise title, and the Drake Curse could once again be responsible for their demise.
Before the thriller of a series, Drake placed a half-million bet on the NBA Finals in favor of the Dallas Mavericks.
Luka Doncic and Co. however, would come at the expense of Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics in five games, despite an incredibly dominant performance at home in Game 4.

The NBA bet would have resulted in a $1.37 million payout if the odds had been in his favor.
His loss comes less than three weeks after the Nice For What hitmaker suffered a big loss by betting on Tyson Fury to beat Oleksandr Usyk.
The Ukrainian defeated Fury via split decision in Saudi Arabia to become the first undisputed heavyweight boxing champion in 24 years last month.
However, it was bad news for Drake, who would have collected just over $1 million if the Brit had emerged victorious.
In their bid to become the first NHL team since the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1942 to come back from 0-3 to win a title, the Oilers didn’t go down without a fight.

They desperately tried to score a goal in the final period, outshooting the Panthers in the third with nine shots on goal to Florida’s four.
Edmonton would also have more shots on goal for the entire match: 24 to Florida’s 21. However, the winners had 31 hits to Edmonton’s 20 and 17 blocks to the Oilers’ 14.
Nevertheless, Florida’s steadfast defense secured their 2-1 victory as they captured their first franchise title at home.
