Canadian rapper Drake pocketed a $2 million payout by placing a winning $1 million bet on the Kansas City Chiefs to beat the Cincinnati Bengals in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.
Drake’s endorsement had become a notorious omen for some sports teams after losing bets on Liverpool, Anthony Joshua and Conor McGregor in recent years.
Then last month, Drake bet $1 million on Argentina to beat France in regulation time in the World Cup final. Unfortunately for him, Lionel Messi & Co. defeated the French in a dramatic shootout.
Drake’s luck improved Sunday when Kansas City’s Harrison Butker won the game on a 45-yard field goal with just seconds remaining. The 23-20 finale sends the Chiefs back to the Super Bowl for the third time in four seasons.
Canadian rapper Drake has publicly revealed his bet for Sunday’s AFC Championship game.
On his Instagram Story, he revealed that he spent $1.1 million for the Chiefs to beat the Bengals.
Drake has experienced some angst when it comes to dropping high-stakes bets in recent months.
The rapper recently lost a $1 million bet on Argentina to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final in regulation time, which didn’t happen. He stood up to win $2.75 million.
In November, Drake threw down $2 million in Canadian dollars for Israel Adesanya to win UFC 281 over Alex Pereira. Unfortunately for the rapper, Pereira won in the fifth round by knockout.
In October, Drake stepped into the world of Spanish and English soccer, placing over CA$833,000 in a two-legged parlay for Barcelona to beat Real Madrid and Arsenal to beat Leeds United.
