Shohei Ohtani is out for the rest of the 2023 MLB season after tearing the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his throwing elbow again and potentially needing a second Tommy John surgery.

So, of course, in the wonderful world of social media, Drake is the reason for this unfortunate event.

Ohtani hit his major league-leading 44th home run in the first inning of the opener in a doubleheader with the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday, but left the mound during the second inning with what the Angels called “arm fatigue” at the time.

Earlier this month, video surfaced of X of Drake walking out of an establishment in an Ohtani All-Star jersey.

‘The Drake Curse’ has been blamed for several disheartening events in the sporting world in recent years.

Canada’s most famous export is a well-known sports enthusiast and regularly supports and bets on the best players and teams in the United States, alongside his beloved Toronto Raptors.

The 2019 NBA franchise’s championship win should be proof alone that the curse doesn’t exist, and yet here we are.

As for the Anaheim club, they lost both games to the Reds, but a softer three-game series is in store against the Mets.
