Dragon Age: The Veilguard takes place ten years after Dragon Age: Inquisition

BioWare has confirmed this Dragon Age: The Veil Guard is set ten years after its predecessor Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Confirmation comes from a recent Discord Q&A session shared by Shinobi602 on X/Twitter (via Eurogamer) in which BioWare revealed a ton of details about its upcoming fantasy role-playing game.

That was revealed among the facts The Veil Guard will be determined ten years later Inquisitionand that the 2014 game’s playable protagonist, the Inquisitor, will “definitely be part of the story.”

Following the reveal of the extended gameplay demo at Summer Game Fest 2024, game director Corinne Busche confirmed that the new locations players can explore in The Veil Guard are more linear than those in Inquisition and that it won’t be open world, but “mission based”.

“Everything is hand-touched, hand-made and very carefully curated,” Busche said. “We believe this is how we get the best narrative experience, the best moment-to-moment experience.

“Gradually though, the levels we’ll do open up, some have more exploration than others. Alternate branching paths, mysteries, secrets, optional content that you will find and solve. So it opens. , but it’s a mission-based, highly composed game.”

In the Q&A session, it was made clear that players will be able to return to these story locations later and complete side content such as quests, as well as freely explore anything they might miss. Once again, the developers said that these quests are “handcrafted and story-oriented” and will not be fetch quests.

Fortunately, there is no progression block The Veil Guard or, other than in Inquisition, where the player was forced to scale their power to certain areas.

Dragon Age: The Veil Guard doesn’t have a release date yet, but is expected to release on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC in late 2024.
