Dr Chris Brown stunned as he notices ‘creepy’ detail during twilight stroll on New Year’s Day

Dr. Chris Brown was stunned when he noticed a strange detail in the ocean while out for a walk on New Year's Day.

The TV presenter, 45, was taking a walk at dusk while on holiday on the NSW north coast when he noticed a strange blue light in the water.

Chris shared a photo of his discovery on Instagram, explaining that the “creepy” but beautiful moment was a completely natural occurrence.

Chris said the blue light in the ocean was actually bioluminescence, which is created by algae in the water.

“So this was a bit of a New Year's surprise,” he wrote in his post.

Dr. Chris Brown discovered a spectacular 'light show' in the ocean while on holiday over the New Year holidays in NSW

“That eerie blue light glowing from the ocean is bioluminescence. A bright light produced by a small algae in the water.'

“But bioluminescence with the rising full moon in the background is better than fireworks on New Year's Eve.”

He shared two photos of the “ocean light” in his post.

In one image, the sun was seen setting behind a headland in the background, while a blue 'mist' is visible in the surf.

A second photo, taken from a different angle, showed the 'blue light' of a beachhead.

The post comes after it was revealed that Chris will replace long-serving host Daryl Somers as co-host of Dancing with the Stars for the 2024 season alongside Sonia Kruger.

He made headlines last year when he jumped from Ten's I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here to join Seven for the top-rated dancing competition.
