New NYPD commissioner ‘fires’ dozens of top cops after ex-chief was accused of trading overtime for sex
Dozens of top New York Police Department officers were ousted a week ago after their former chief was accused of trading sexual favors for overtime.
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch has taken out several top officials at the Internal Affairs Bureau, including Deputy Chief Chris Morello, the New York Post reports.
It comes after explosive allegations emerged about Chief Jeffrey Maddrey, made by his subordinate Lieutenant Quathisha Epps, accusing him of predatory sexual behavior.
Interior chief Miguel Iglesias was removed from office on the same day the unmasking was withdrawn.
But documents reviewed by the Post further reveal that Inspector Joseph Profeta, who headed the IAB group dedicated to investigating allegations against NYPD captains and above, was transferred to Patrol Borough Brooklyn North.
Meanwhile, IAB Special Opps Inspector Michael Ricciardi has been transferred to Patrol Borough Manhattan North.
Another twelve IAB officers, ranging in rank from lieutenants to sergeants, were also deployed to remote patrol areas.
Five detectives inside Maddrey’s office and a police officer were pushed out of Maddrey’s office and sent into housing projects, according to the warrants.

Deputy Chief Chris Morello is among those removed from the Internal Affairs Bureau over the fallout from Epps’ allegations
“Tisch means business,” a highly placed source told the outlet. “She cleans up the mess and gets the department back on track.”
The cleanup comes in the wake of allegations from Epps, who claimed she was paid overtime totaling $400,000 in exchange for dirty sexual favors.
“He always asked me to kiss his penis,” she said, adding that the demands allegedly included sex at NYPD headquarters.
Epps and her attorney Eric Sanders said they planned to file a claim with the city comptroller detailing her allegations.
She had worked for Maddrey as she rose through the ranks from head of housing to head of patrol.
She said his sexual demands began in June 2023, when he got the top job as department head.
Epps added that Maddrey was aware she was having financial problems and allegedly used this to his advantage.

Epps claimed that she and Maddrey had sexual intercourse ten times after their first interaction. Maddrey started being generous with overtime a few years later, she said
According to her, her high overtime hours were put on a list when she tried to get away from him.
On Monday, it was revealed that she earned more than $400,000 in fiscal year 2024, including $204,000 in overtime for a total of 1,626 hours in the year.
She applied for her pension after being outed due to the huge amounts of money, and was subsequently suspended.
Maddrey’s attorney Larry Lambrous has denied all allegations on behalf of his client, saying he had no authority to sign off on overtime.
Maddrey has claimed he had a “consensual, adult” relationship with Epps and denied there was any coercion.
But Epps’ lawyer hit back, saying: ‘This clown is a complete disgrace. We have a wealth of digital data that will hopefully bring this degenerate to justice.”
