It was a thrilling event for beachgoers who narrowly escaped a landslide that came within meters of their 4WD.
Footage posted on social media showed sand, rocks and trees crashing down a cliff at Double Island Point, just north of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, on Saturday afternoon.
“It was a little close today on Double Island,” Riley Stone captioned the video on Instagram.

It comes after the same beach was closed in January due to landslides.
The cliff, which is about 70 meters high, collapsed and blocked access to the beach for two days.
The Ministry of Environment, Parks and Innovation has warned visitors not to stand, sit or park at the foot of the dunes.
Beach trips of three hours either side of high tide are not recommended.
