Doritos has revealed its bold new flavour – and fans have a lot to say about it

Doritos Australia has announced the launch of a bold new flavour: coffee.

The chip makers describe the flavour as ‘the perfect pick-me-up to combat the 3pm slump’ and the flavour announced on Wednesday is sure to grab fans’ attention.

The treat combines the satisfying aromatic taste of coffee with the iconic Doritos crunch. But it has already caused a stir among those who have tried it.

Several curious Australians who managed to get their hands on the chips early gave their honest opinions – and many disapproved.

“Yuck! That’s disgusting, sorry Doritos,” one woman said after frowning. She gave the limited edition flavor a zero out of ten.

‘What’s that? That’s not even one [out of ten]. That’s horrible. Coffee? Why?’ said one man after trying the chip for the first time.

“Honestly, that’s the worst thing I’ve ever had. Ever. It tastes like cardboard with coffee on it,” he said after his second chip.

A third said with a grimace: “I say no.”

Most taste testers rated the snack a two, but a handful said the snack “deserves a seven.”

A select group wasn’t too keen on the sweet coffee taste, but they weren’t sure if they would buy it themselves.

“Wow, it’s kind of sweet,” one woman said.

“It’s not that bad. I’d give it a seven, but I’d eat anything,” another man added.

The latest offer is not for sale. Australians must win a pack.

Doritos is giving away 25 packs every day at 3pm and fans can get a chance to win via the contest on Doritos’ Instagram page.

Kat Miller, Senior Brand Manager at Doritos, said: ‘Every afternoon, people across the country are disappointed to find their favourite coffee shop closed, just when they need a pick-me-up.

That’s why we’re so excited to announce the launch of Doritos Coffee – the perfect snack to help Australians beat their 3pm afternoon slump.

‘We know Australians are craving that extra cup of coffee in the afternoon and we can’t wait to see the reaction of chip lovers and coffee lovers across the country when they try the first batch of Doritos Coffee.’

The latest addition follows the launch of Doritos Coriander in 2023, which sparked debate and controversy across Australia due to its soapy taste.
