DoorDash FIRES Texas delivery man who cursed at female customer for tipping him 25%

DoorDash fired one of their drivers in Texas after he berated a woman on her doorstep when she gave him a 25 percent tip for her $20 pizza delivery.

Lacey Purciful, 38, was stunned after Corey, the charwoman, suggested that someone who lives in a $500,000 house like her should have been more generous. He has now been dropped by DoorDash.

Instead of getting personally aggressive, Purciful graciously thanked Corey and told him “you’re welcome” before closing the door, despite his aggression on her porch. She said she “killed him with kindness.”

In the video, captured by the family’s Vivint camera in Kempner, Texas, the mother-of-two answered the door as her dog ran out to greet the delivery driver.

The man, dressed in khaki shorts and a dark T-shirt, took the pizza box out of its protective box and handed it to the woman, who said ‘thank you’.

Lacey Purciful, 38, was shocked and reported on the ordeal after Corey, the worker, suggested that someone living in a $500,000 house like her should have been more generous

The delivery person then said, “You’re welcome, um, I just want to say it’s a nice house for a $5 tip.”

The woman, relatively shocked by the man’s comment, said, “You’re welcome,” to which he replied, “F*** you,” and walked off.

Online viewers of the video, which Purciful posted to her TikTok account and Facebook page, were overwhelmingly supportive of the tipper in this case.

“Tipping has gotten out of hand. 5 out of 20 is more than enough,” one user wrote.

Others encouraged Purciful to contact Doordash, the service she had used before giving birth.

Purciful said she did contact the delivery company, for which she also clarified that she pays a monthly fee in addition to any additional service charges.

A DoorDash spokesperson told DailyMail.com: ‘Respectfully asking for a tip is acceptable, but assaulting or harassing someone is never acceptable.

“We have removed this Dasher from our platform and have contacted the customer.

Our rules are there to ensure that everyone using our platform – Dashers, customers, merchants – has a safe and enjoyable experience.

“We expect everyone to treat others with respect and we will enforce our rules fairly and consistently.”

Purciful added that her husband Dustin was very upset about what the delivery driver had said to his wife, noting that the driver could have just refused the order.

One of her friends wrote on Facebook, “I laugh harder every time I watch this.. you were so nice and super calm “Welcome!”

Purciful replied, “Kill them with kindness!”

Another of the mother’s friends wrote online, “WTF?! Apparently he doesn’t even need the money! Because someone who needs the money/job wouldn’t risk it for a tip!

“And you ordered food worth $20, what did he expect? A $20 tip? You were way too nice, that’s not the Lacey I remember!

“The Lacey I know would have taken a piece out and thrown it at him, found out where he lives, stormed his house and flattened his tires, then taped a $5 bill to his windshield with a note which read: don’t forget to tip the mechanic!

‘Damn, we’re really getting older! LOL! …. Also – I’m jk! [joking] But I do remember a Lacey who would never have let that go!’

And adding to the comments online, another of Lacey’s friends said under her post, “I would also call the pizzeria and cancel the $5 tip immediately.”

Other online commenters lamented the exorbitant cost of getting something delivered these days, and how delivery costs are likely to drive down tip numbers.

“It pisses me off that my $18 order has an additional service and delivery charge that is not a tip. So by the time all is said and done with taxes and fees, my $18 order with my tip is now $32-$35. It sucks for the employees, but these fees are hurting everyone but the businesses,” she wrote a Reddit user.

“I couldn’t believe the last time I tried to deliver, the pizza + tax, then a $2.99 fee and a $4.99 fee, and they said neither of those were tips for the driver. It would be over $40 for a pizza, soda and breadsticks. I ended up driving to another restaurant out of spite,” another wrote.

A third user wondered where the delivery costs go if they don’t go to the driver. “What other fabricated reason for such a fee could exist?”

And another said, “His problem is that he expected to be tipped about the cost of the house and not the cost of the food.”
