The sinister door-knocker who told homeowner on Ring doorbell ‘I’m wanted for murder’…as his identity is revealed
A sinister door knocker who confessed: ‘I’m wanted for murder’ is a convicted criminal who was hunted by police, MailOnline can reveal.
The terrifying moment was captured by a Ring video doorbell at a house in Baildon, West Yorkshire, last month.
The confused man was filmed standing face to face with a stunned homeowner as he made his macabre confession.
Now MailOnline can reveal the uninvited guest is Alistair Houldsworth, 37 – a failed professional golfer turned sex predator.
Houldsworth, who has a string of previous convictions, was arrested shortly after he was filmed blurting out: ‘Hi…I’m wanted for murder’.
However, he was not held in connection with an unlawful killing, but for violating a restraining order.
Houldsworth was due to appear in court in Bradford last month for sentencing.
But the case was postponed when it emerged he was in jail on an unrelated matter.
Alistair Houldsworth, 37, has been revealed as the sinister door knocker who was caught on Ring doorbell footage telling a shocked homeowner: ‘I’m wanted for murder’
Houldsworth showed up at the front door of a homeowner in Baildon, West Yorkshire
The homeowner hurried to close the door and told Houldsworth, “You better go.”
In the brief conversation, exclusively revealed last month, Houldsworth anxiously knocked seven times before declaring: “Hello… I’m wanted for murder.”
When asked to repeat this, he replied: “I’m wanted for murder, yes.”
The homeowner rushed to close the door and told Houldsworth “you better go,” who begged “listen, listen, listen” before staggering.
Houldworth was jailed for 19 months in 2020 after sexually assaulting a young woman and racially abusing a police officer.
A court heard he was drunk and high on cocaine when he put his hand up the woman’s skirt.
In the same grim episode, Houldsworth also attacked a 16-year-old girl and a male student.
He tried to kiss the girl and grabbed the male victim’s rear end as he stumbled around and slurred his words.
He kicked a police officer in the thigh and shouted a stream of insults at his colleagues, calling them nonces and ‘Jimmy Saviles’.
Bradford Crown Court was told Houldsworth could only have been a successful golfer because a failed career caused mental health problems.
The mysterious encounter was captured on the homeowner’s Ring doorbell camera (right).
Houldsworth was later seen wandering the street and was arrested shortly afterwards
We can reveal he also has previous convictions for sending offensive communications, public order offences, assault, common assault, threatening behavior and assaulting an emergency worker.
The gas engineer, 32, who opened Houldsworth’s door, said: ‘As soon as I looked at him I could see he was faint.
‘He mumbled his words and said, ‘I’m wanted for murder.’
‘I couldn’t believe what he was saying, so I asked him to repeat what he said, and he said the same thing again.
‘I looked him up and down and told him to go away and closed the door on him.
‘I came back inside, looked out the window and saw him stumbling down the street.
‘I thought it was strange, not intimidating. But if it had been an older person or a woman, they probably would have been terrified.
‘God knows what his intentions were. To be honest, I wasn’t going to entertain him figuring them out.”
Recalling the incident, the man, who asked not to be named, added: “His opening line ‘I’m wanted for murder’ wasn’t something I thought I would hear opening the front door.”
Houldsworth, who lives in a probation hostel in Bradford, will be sentenced in January for breaching a restraining order.
