Doomsday prophet Chad Daybell’s murder house where children’s bodies were found buried in the backyard lists for $350k
The home of doomsday prophet Chad Daybell, where the remains of two children he murdered, has been put on the market.
Daybell, 55, was sentenced to death earlier this month for the murders of his first wife Tammy Daybell and the two children of his accomplice Lori Vallow.
The remains of Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 16, were found in June 2020 on a property in Rexburg, Idaho. The estate is now for sale for $350,000.
The four-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bathroom house has a living area of 150 m² and is located on a site of over 1.6 hectares.
Potential buyers should look beyond the grim history of the ranch house built in 1960 and now owned by Daybell’s attorney John Prior.
The one and a half bathroom four bedroom extends to 1,644 square feet of living space and sits on four acres of land
Potential buyers will have to look past the grizzly history of the ranch-style home, built in 1960 and now owned by Daybell attorney John Prior.
Photos of the home show the living room and kitchen in a white color scheme, with a sofa in the middle.
What appears to be the bedroom of a young boy and girl is also seen in photos of the house. It is unclear whether these are the children’s bedrooms.
The real estate list, first reported by Realtor.comcontains the warning: ‘There is a very tragic situation with this house. Have your agent investigate this for you.’
According to police, the bodies of the two children were likely buried by Daybell sometime between September 2019 and June 2020.
Aerial footage taken at the time shows detectives digging up the ground around a water well in the backyard.
The children both disappeared within days of each other in September 2019 before their remains were discovered in the backyard of the property.
Seventeen days after JJ was last seen alive, Tammy Daybell died suddenly in her sleep.
Police said they believe the bodies of the two children were buried by Daybell sometime between September 2019 and June 2020.

Although she was thought to have died of natural causes, her body was exhumed and an autopsy determined that she had asphyxiated.
During his trial, Daybell was accused of creating an alternate reality so he could fulfill “his desire for sex, money and power.”
Daybell, a self-published author who wrote doomsday-oriented fiction based on Mormon teachings, had been in a relationship with Lori Vallow.
The couple married in November 2019, just weeks after Tammy was murdered and not long after his children disappeared.
The two were indicted in 2021 on charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and grand larceny by deception in the child’s death.
Last year, Vallow was sentenced to a series of life sentences without the possibility of parole.
Prosecutors said the couple justified the killings by creating an elaborate and apocalyptic belief system.
The murders were part of an elaborate plan to remove all obstacles to their relationship and obtain money from survivor benefits and life insurance.

Vallow claimed she had been in contact with her deceased children and blamed their deaths on “accidents and suicide.”
She also told the court that she had been friends with Tammy, who is also “extremely busy in heaven” and that all three visit her regularly.
Vallow said, “Jesus knows me and Jesus understands me. I grieve with all of you who grieve for my children and Tammy.”
She claimed, “Jesus Christ knows the truth of what happened here. Jesus Christ knows that no one was murdered in this case.
‘Accidental deaths happen, suicides happen, deadly side effects from medications happen.
“I have access to heaven and the spirit world. I have had many communications from people who are now living in heaven, including my children, my sisters, my aunts and my uncle and my grandparents.
‘I have had many contacts with Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Parents, and with many angels who visited me.

“Through these communications I know for sure that my children are happy and busy in the spirit world. I know that my friend Tammy Daybell is also very happy and extremely busy.”
Defense attorney Jim Archibald argued during the trial that there was no evidence that Vallow was involved in the murders.
Archibald said she was a loving, protective mother and that her life took an unexpected turn when she met Daybell and fell for his “strange” apocalyptic religious claims.
Daybell told her they had been married in several past lives and that she was a “sexual goddess” who was to help him save the world by gathering 144,000 followers so Jesus could return, Archibald said.
Vallow’s former girlfriend Melanie Gibb testified that Vallow believed people in her life had been taken over by evil spirits and turned into “zombies,” including JJ and Tylee.
The family and the case were highlighted in the popular Netflix documentary ‘Sins of our Mother’.
The Netflix series, which features her surviving child Colby Ryan, 26, reveals the details behind the murders, and Lori’s beliefs that convinced her there was a “dark spirit” inside her daughter, and that the only way to “free the spirit is to kill the body.”
