Doolandella, Brisbane: Husband found dead alongside wife in suspected murder-suicide was facing mystery charges at court

EXCLUSIVE

A husband found dead with his wife in a suspected murder-suicide was a known perpetrator of domestic violence and had several cases before the Queensland courts.

Habib Bayat, 34, and Natasha Nibizi, 29, was found in a house on Redhead Street in Doolandella, in Brisbanein the Southwest, Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal Bayat has a criminal record in Townsville and Brisbane involving domestic violence and family matters.

One of the domestic violence charges included a 2022 offense.

Just hours after the couple were found dead, six of Bayat’s charges were finalized at the Brisbane Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

When contacted for details of the nature of the charges, a spokesperson for the Brisbane Magistrates’ Court told Daily Mail Australia they could not make them public due to “sensitivities” and “Queensland law”.

The court would also not confirm whether Bayat was scheduled to appear in court at the time of his death on Wednesday, or whether the hearing was postponed in light of his death.

Queensland Police Detective Michael Hogan said officers arrived at the home after receiving a welfare call.

One of the bodies was reportedly found bound with zip ties, but police are yet to reveal how the couple died or whether any weapons were found in the home.

CCTV footage obtained by 9News showed Ms Nibizi walking into the house on Tuesday and greeting a man at the front door.

Ms Nibizi and Mr Bayat got engaged in 2021 and married that year, before moving to Brisbane last December to reportedly be closer to Mr Bayat’s family.

Best friend Asfaty Shindano said the mother of four had found a new job just the day before her death, according to the Courier mail.

She said she had been with Mrs Nibizi on Tuesday when her husband called and said he wanted to speak to her.

Natasha Nibizi, 29, and her husband Habib Bayat were found dead in a house on Redhead Street in Doolandella, south-west Brisbane, at 7pm on Tuesday.

Forensic detectives are investigating a suspected domestic violence incident

Neighbors described the find as ‘creepy’ and said the residents of the house were ‘quiet’

“I was sleeping over and her husband called her and said he wanted to meet her… he wanted to talk to her,” Ms. Shindano told the publication.

“We were concerned when she didn’t answer our calls.”

A man dressed in a blue forensic suit was led away from the property by detectives after the discovery of the bodies, while a second man was driven from the scene.

None of the men, who lived in the house, are believed to have been in the house at the time of the incident and are not considered suspects, but are assisting police with their investigation.

There were no children in the house at the time.

Ms Nibizi’s youngest child is only eight months old.
