We love movie recommendations here at Polygon. Whether it’s horror, sci-fi, action, comedy, thrillers or just the best of the year, we always try to introduce readers to new and exciting films that they will love. But now we want to find the perfect movie for you. (That’s you.)
Every Thursday on Polygon we have an open thread dedicated to helping you, our dear readers, find the perfect watch for this weekend. Looking for a science fiction film that makes you think about the wonders (or horrors) of the world? We got you. Want to refresh your world cinema? How about some comfort food? We have you there too.
From 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM EST, I’ll be answering your questions and submitting requests about what to watch this weekend in the comments section below.
A little about me, your curator for this week: I’m Pete Volk, our senior curatorial editor. I love movies of all shapes and sizes, but my main areas of interest are action movies (especially martial arts), classic Hollywood comedies (shout out to the GOAT, Ernst Lubitsch), and keeping up with new releases from around the world (I’ve been in total 154 watched films from 2023 and 13 from 2024 so far).
I looked last week Rounders (a great poker movie, but not a great real movie) and Lady (I agree with Petrana’s review – the movie isn’t very good, but the subversion of fairy tale characters is interesting). I caught up too Shogun (still excellent!) and Dropout’s Game changerfinished the last season of Drive to surviveand watched the first few episodes of The gentlemen.
Now it’s time to turn it around on you. What would you like to see (or what are you planning to watch) this weekend? Leave a request in the comments and I’ll get back to you between 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM EST. Details help: let me know what you’re looking for, an idea of your tastes as a viewer, and any other relevant information you’d like to share (such as the streaming services you have access to).
This is also a great place to share what you’ve been watching, if you’d like to talk about it with your fellow Polygon readers! Participation is very welcome, even without questions.

See you in the comments at 3:30 PM EST! In the meantime, fire off your requests.
