Donny Osmond’s nephew Jared slams RHOSLC for giving him a bad edit: ‘Got thrown under the bus’

Donny Osmond’s cousin Jared has criticized The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City for turning him into a villain and disrupting his relationship with newcomer Britani Bateman.

Jared Osmond, 54, spoke exclusively to DailyMail.com after his appearance on the Bravo show, which left him receiving “nasty” messages from fans.

“I’m absolutely hammered right now. I wake up to about 200 DMs full of hate,” the real estate developer revealed.

‘I take it with a grain of salt. And I try to answer some of them, even the worst ones. I always point out to these grown adults who come up to me that you shot one episode, like the dinner I had with Britani.

“They cut a two-hour dinner down to three minutes, and then it seems like I’m cutting her off and putting her opinion in the spotlight. That’s not how it happened,” he said.

During the October 16 episode, viewers watched as Osmond met Bateman, 51, for dinner after she broke up with him and he was looking for closure.

Before that, the cast’s friend had learned during the trip to Milwaukee that Osmond was messaging Angie Katsanevas’ eyebrow girl – which Osmond revealed was when he and Bateman were separated at the time.

Bateman called him “manipulative” in a confessional and called him out for not posting photos of her on his social media and previously calling her his “best friend.”

After filming the meeting with his ex, Osmond told DailyMail.com that he was “done” filming. However, a producer had tried to get him to attend Katsanevas’ anniversary party, where Bateman would attend with a new man named Aaron.

“The lead producer called me, and she says, Jared, you need to be here. I was in bed. It’s ten o’clock at night and I said, “No way.” I’m so done after what you did to me at dinner. I’m not doing this.’

Moments later, he changed his mind and called the producer back after she said none of the girls had met him. It also helped that Whitney Rose’s husband, Justin, texted him — just as viewers saw in the Oct. 23 episode — to attend the party, knowing Osmond lived just 10 minutes away.

Osmond’s relative told DailyMail.com that he wasn’t bothered by Bateman’s new date, and that in fact he enjoyed connecting with the other cast, including Heather Gay, with whom he has “become really good friends ‘, and Mary Cosby, with whom he ‘became really good friends’. much respect for that’ and also calls her a ‘really great friend today.’

Watching the episodes back, Osmond says he was “definitely thrown under the bus” and regrets ever filming.

“I don’t think Britani understood the damage she was doing when she bad-mouthed her… It affected my children. One of the things that Britani and I talked about, and that she promised my children, is that she would not discredit me on national television,” he explained.

“Because I am not a narcissist, I humbly admit that I have made mistakes and I need to own those things. I never cheated on Britani, but I would occasionally leave one foot out the door because I was nervous. And one of the things I hate most about the show, honestly, is that I think it changed Britani.”

When asked to explain how she had changed, Osmond reasoned, “She’s a lot stronger, but she’s also had all these people in her ear.”

He noted that the reality star also gets “hundreds of DMs a day telling her what a bad person” he is. “I mean, it’s a small town here in Salt Lake City. Everyone has an opinion about me now. Everyone has an opinion about the Osmond family,” he said.

Donny Osmond himself recently made comments E! about how he understands that it’s “a bit risky to be on TV, but to each their own.”

Jared said, “He and I talk all the time. Look, my family knows. I mean, I’m not a Mormon anymore. And I’m a bit of the black sheep in the family, but I’m not the only one. And we have enough experience in this family to know what’s real and what’s not.’

He continued, “My Aunt Marie called me one night and said, are you okay? I’m like, yeah, I’m doing fine. She knows no one gives me a hard time, but it’s a bit embarrassing to be painted like me. I have always prided myself on being a very good man.”

Bateman and Osmond initially bonded in July 2023 when their exes were dating — his ex-girlfriend was dating the RHOSLC star’s ex-husband, John Scott Underwood.

DailyMail.com previously reported Bateman’s alleged abusive history with Underwood, in which he “demanded sex multiple times a day” and allegedly controlled her.

Bateman and Osmond became “instant friends,” but became “very, very close” in the following weeks, he recalls.

“What no one knows is that when I agreed to come on the show, Britani and I told her that I didn’t want the fame because of my last name, because of how horrible my divorce has been in this state of Utah and all that. the things that happened.

Bateman joined The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City this year

“I said, look, if I’m going to go on the show, I have to keep going and not drag our love life into the show. And she agreed. She said: No problem. Come on, do one episode and we’ll just be best friends.

“Unfortunately, I didn’t realize she would immediately tell the world we were dating.”

Osmond supported Bateman because he knew how important it was for her to appear on Real Housewives and “advance her career as an actor and singer.”

The Salt Lake City man has confirmed that he and Bateman have split and that he is now single. However, he still loves and misses her.

“Honestly, Britani is a total saint. She is the sweetest woman, and I still love her even though we are apart. I love her. I love her with all my heart. I really love her and miss her,” he told DailyMail.com.

RHOSLC fans won’t see the two reunited on screen as he said he turned down the opportunity to attend the upcoming reunion.

“They’ve already asked me to be at the reunion, and if we’re not together, I won’t show up.” I don’t know what value it would be to me or her if I came,” he spilled.

“I’m sure they’ll have a lot of questions, and they’d like to see the controversy, but I’m not sure what value I would add to the reunion show.”

New episodes of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City air Wednesdays at 9 PM ET on Bravo.
