- Judge Tanya Chutkan formally adjourns the case
- Trump’s appeal claiming immunity from prosecution is still being considered
A federal judge in Washington formally postponed the trial of Donald Trump in March on charges of conspiring to overturn the 2020 election.
U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan on Friday officially canceled the March 4 trial date and did not immediately set a new date.
It comes as a federal appeals court has yet to rule on a pending appeal by Trump, arguing he is immune from prosecution for actions he took in the White House.
The judge’s move was a dramatic intervention that will bring the successful trial against Trump closer to the 2024 elections.
