Donald Trump’s eldest sister Maryanne Trump Barry has died at the age of 86.
The former federal appeals court judge was found dead in her apartment in Manhattan’s Upper East Side on Monday morning.
Her cause of death is not yet known and the New York Medical Examiner has launched an investigation.
Trump and Maryanne confided in each other and were close as he expanded his real estate empire and ran for president.
But cracks appeared in their relationship when Trump’s niece Mary released audio of Maryanne saying he has “no principles” and “you can’t trust him.”
Donald Trump’s eldest sister Maryanne Trump Barry has died at the age of 86. The former federal appeals court judge was found dead Monday in her apartment in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
The president’s older sister dismissed Trump’s intelligence, saying “he doesn’t read” and calling some of his only achievements his “five bankruptcies.”
However, ABC reported that the pair were mending their relationship and met at Trump’s golf course in Bedminster this summer.
Barry was appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1999 as a senior judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
She retired in 2019 amid an investigation into whether she had any involvement in alleged fraudulent tax and financial transactions by the Trump family.
The investigation closed without a conclusion when she resigned.
Three of the former president’s four siblings have now died. His youngest brother Robert died in August 2020 at the age of 71 and Fred Trump Jr. died of a heart attack in 1981 at the age of 42.
