Democratic congressman’s staffer says she wishes shooter Thomas Crooks had ‘better aim’ in vile post after Trump’s assassination attempt

An aide to a Democratic congresswoman from Mississippi took to social media to say she wished the gunman who tried to kill Donald Trump had better aim.

On Saturday night, shortly after Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, attempted to assassinate the former president at a rally in Pennsylvania, Jacqueline Marsaw, the field director for Mississippi Congressman Bennie G. Thompson, shared a sickening Facebook post about the attack.

Trump was bloodied and injured during the assassination attempt. He was seen suddenly grabbing his ear as a loud bang rang out past him, then diving to the ground.

Marsaw, 61, who describes herself as a “civil rights activist,” gained the attention of Republicans across the country. She has since deleted the post and her account, but screenshots have been reposted on social media.

She shared: ‘I don’t condone violence but please take some shooting lessons so you don’t miss next time. Oops, that wasn’t me speaking.’

In a follow-up post she said, “That’s what your hate speech got you!!”

Jacqueline Marsaw, who is also secretary, president and vice president of a local NAACP, has previously been revered by locals as a “town hero.” WJTV.

Law enforcement sources told CBS News that Crooks, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was armed with “an AR-style rifle.” He was killed at the scene.

One member of the crowd was killed in the fatal shooting, while two others who were wounded are in critical condition. All three are men, law enforcement officials said.

After Trump was shot, the Secret Service gathered around the 45th US president as shrill screams rang out from the MAGA crowd.

He then stood up, blood streaming down his cheek, raised his fist in the air and defiantly shouted “fight” as the crowd chanted “USA” as he was dragged off the stage and forced into a vehicle.

Trump was taken to hospital for treatment but was later released.

Spokesman Steven Cheung said Trump was “doing fine” and was being evaluated at a local medical center, while the former president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., said his father was “in excellent spirits.”

About an hour later, the eye-catching post was deleted, but anger quickly mounted with many suggesting she be fired for her bizarre comment.

Someone tagged Thompson and asked him, “Have you fired Jaqueline Marsaw yet?”

“What kind of person are you to let someone like her work for you. Disgusting,” they added.

“You need to fire this shit that works for you,” wrote another irate person.

Others suggested that more drastic action be taken against her because of the position.

“Jaqueline Marsaw needs to be arrested immediately,” one person said in the tweet, tagging the FBI and Secret Service.

“She supports the assassination of President Trump. Why does she work for the government? Why did she delete her Facebook post? She should be fired,” said another.

Others shared Marsaw’s sentiment, with many taking to social media to comment on the shooter’s goal.

A woman on TikTok said, “You mean to tell me someone finally had the bluff to bring up a “pew pew” and he missed it?

“We were a second or an inch away from half the problem being gone, and you missed it,” she added.

After the attempted murder, Thompson told X how shocked he was.

“There is no room in American democracy for political violence. I am grateful for the swift response of law enforcement to this incident.

“I am glad the former president is safe, and my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved,” he added.

Thompson has been very vocal about Trump, especially after the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.

That day, a mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building, two months after he was defeated by President Biden in the 2020 election.

Thompson has posted about the attack several times and has a page on his website called the ‘January 6th Select Committee.’

DailyMail.com contacted Marsaw and Thompson for comment.

In the hours following Saturday night’s shooting, many conspiracy theorists on social media claimed the entire incident was “staged” to boost Trump’s election chances.

Some X users based their theories on the provocative images of Trump after the shooting. ‘This is such a perfect photo it’s hard to believe it wasn’t staged. Photo of the decade. Absolutely incredible.’

“Do you think the Trump shooting was staged?” asked an X user shortly after the incident.

Kevin Rojek, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh office, called the shooting an “attempted assassination.”

Actress Amanda Seales posted a video online explaining why she believes the shooting was staged.

That shit was more staged than a Tyler Perry production of Madea Runs for President.

“Where did the blood come from? So in theater, in movies, they have what are called blood pellets. People use them for Halloween.

‘It’s basically a drop of fake blood that you put in your mouth, and when you crush it, the blood comes out.

“I think this was done to show his strength against Biden’s vulnerability,” Seales said.
