“He’s ready to go in the fall. A good college. He’s smart β€” a smart kid. He was always a very good student, smart, he’s a smart kid,” Trump said.

And it wasn’t just Barron that Trump raved about when he talked about the qualities he most admires in his other two sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.

β€œDon is a hunter, a very great hunter and he knows everything about that world, about guns and everything,” Trump said.

He even said that Donald Trump Jr. was the first person to confront him about his attempted assassination, emphasizing how miraculous it was that his father was still alive.

“He was the first one to say, Dad, boy, you’re lucky. I didn’t realize 130 yards is really close, in that language. He said you’re lucky. He said it’s unbelievable,” he said.

Regarding the shooter’s capabilities, Trump said: “He was reportedly not a bad shooter. He was a very disturbed man, but he was not a bad shooter.

Trump said of Eric, “He loves the business, he loves real estate and he’s also a real hunter.”

Von spoke about his struggles with addiction and explained the dangers of cocaine to an otherwise sober Trump. He admits to being a heavy cocaine user in the past, but has since quit due to the negative effects.

He describes cocaine as a powerful stimulant that can lead to feelings of euphoria, but also to intense anxiety and paranoia.

“Cocaine turns you into a fucking owl, bro. You become your own streetlight,” Von said. “It’s a miserable feeling, but you do it anyway.”

In the rest of the podcast, the two discussed health care reform, border security, Trump’s friendship with Dana White and why the Republican presidential candidate is quitting drinking and smoking.

Von interviewed Bernie Sanders the same week as Trump, which viewers said was a testament to his reach and ability to remain impartial as a journalist.
