Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday hit out at claims in a new biography of Queen Elizabeth II that she found him “very rude” and called him the work of a “dirty scumbag” trying to sell a book.
In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, he said they spent hours together and grew closer during their meetings.
“I heard I was her favorite president,” he said.
These sensational claims are made in a forthcoming biography, ‘A Voyage Around the Queen’, by Craig Brown.
He describes how the late queen confided to another guest that she found the way he looked over her shoulder, as if searching for someone more interesting, “particularly annoying.”
Donald Trump on Wednesday took heat for claims in a new biography of Queen Elizabeth II that she found him “very rude” because he was the work of a “dirty bastard” trying to sell a book.
“She also believed that President Trump had to have ‘some sort of understanding’ with his wife Melania or she would not have stayed married to him,” he wrote in excerpts published by the Daily Mail.
Trump, 78, said the story was simply not true.
“It was totally untrue. I have no idea who wrote it, but it was absolutely the opposite,” Trump told DailyMail.com after a campaign rally in Asheboro, North Carolina.
‘I had a great relationship with the Queen. She liked me and I liked her.’
Trump is currently in the race to reclaim the White House, but has fallen in the polls since President Joe Biden withdrew and was replaced by his Vice President Kamala Harris.
He has spoken repeatedly about his admiration for the British royal family, saying he inherited that affection from his Scottish mother.
One of his earliest memories is of attending the coronation with her.
He met her in 2018, after he became president during a visit marred by protests in London. They met informally for tea during a trip that was cut short to avoid even bigger protests.

A year later he enjoyed a state visit with all the pomp and circumstance, including an elaborate state banquet.
While he made no major blunders, he did break royal protocol by placing his hand on her back while toasting her as a “wonderful, wonderful woman” during dinner.
Trump said he was smeared by a writer trying to promote a book.
“I spoke to her many times, especially when I was there,” he said.
“We spent hours together at a state banquet. She was a wonderful woman. I think it’s a shame that a scumbag can write an article that is totally untrue.”
Trump held his first outdoor rally since he was shot in Asheboro, North Carolina. Extra security measures included a panel of bulletproof glass in front of him and three behind him.
Thousands of supporters gathered on Wednesday afternoon to listen to his speech
Buckingham Palace has steered clear of controversy and generally avoids commenting on books or biographies.
However, Trump continued to insist that his trips were a great success.
“She told friends of mine that ‘President Trump was my favorite president,'” he said
‘And then you have that guy who’s looking for publicity for a book that’s probably fake, and in many other ways.
‘Now I don’t know anything about him. I have no idea who he is.
“We had an incredible relationship. She was an amazing woman.”
