With 49 days to go until the election, a new poll from DailyMail.com reveals the state of play in the race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

Meanwhile, a second assassination attempt on Trump in two months has raised more questions about the Secret Service after suspect Ryan Wesley Routh was charged.

Prosecutors revealed Monday that Routh allegedly hid in the bushes at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach for 12 hours before aiming his SKS rifle at the former president.

Investigators are also looking into how the 58-year-old got within 500 yards of a Republican candidate who had been shot just two months earlier.

More and more details about his personal history are also coming to light, including what he posted on social media after the first assassination attempt on Trump in Butler on July 13.

REVEALED: What Trump’s attempted murder suspect Ryan Routh said after the first shooting in Butler

Ryan Routh, who was arrested shortly after the Secret Service found him with a gun in the bushes on the edge of Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach on Sunday, tweeted after the July 13 assassination attempt on Trump on X that President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris should visit the victims of the attempted assassination. He said, “Trump will never do anything for them.”

“Show the world what compassion and humanity mean,” Routh posted on July 16, according to multiple posts.

Routh, who wrote a book last year called “Ukraine’s Unwinnable War” in which he called Trump a “fool,” an “idiot” and a “joker,” was also known for tagging world leaders and celebrities like Elton John and Elon Musk in his posts, often including his phone number and email address.

Secret Service investigating Elon Musk’s shocking response to Trump assassination attempt

The Secret Service has launched an investigation into Elon Musk’s tweet questioning why President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris weren’t also targeted in assassination attempts.

Musk made the comments on his X platform on Sunday after former President Donald Trump was the target of a second assassination attempt while golfing in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Responding to a post asking, “Why do they want to kill Donald Trump?” Musk, who supports Trump, provocatively remarked, “And no one is even trying to kill Biden or Kamala.”

The Secret Service confirms that it is aware of the post and that it investigates all threats to protected individuals.

Hillary Clinton says she had ‘tears in her eyes’ when Trump was convicted

During a meeting with Katie Couric at DAR Constitutional Hall in Washington DC, Clinton also lashed out at her former rival for blaming Democrats on Monday for the second attempt on his life.

“If he were a real leader, he should be doing everything he can to calm things down,” Clinton said. “Not just throwing red cake on the table to make people angry.”

The former Democratic presidential candidate responded to the assassination attempt and then to Trump’s tweet claiming that “comrade Kamala Harris” and the “ridiculous lawsuits” against the ex-president were responsible.

Trump returns to campaign trail after new assassination fears

Donald Trump will resume campaigning on Tuesday, traveling to Michigan, two days after an assassination attempt on him was foiled at his Florida golf course.

Her Democratic rival Kamala Harris will also be campaigning, traveling to the key battleground state of Pennsylvania for an interview with the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).

That event and another interview with Spanish-language media, recorded Monday and set to air Tuesday, mark the first time Harris has had the chance to personally respond to the alleged attempt to assassinate Trump.

The Republican presidential candidate was taken away by the Secret Service on Sunday after a gunman was found at his Florida golf course, the second time in as many months that Trump has faced such a predicament.

Russia is “fully prepared” to detonate a nuclear device in the Arctic “at any moment”, it was announced today as Vladimir Putin continues exercises not seen since the Cold War.

The director of an old Soviet testing center in the Novaya Zelmlya archipelago stressed that the testing facilities are ready and can be used immediately “if the order is given.”

Rear Admiral Andrei Sinitsyn said: ‘The testing site is ready to resume large-scale testing activities… The laboratory and testing facilities are ready. The staff is ready.’

Sinitsyn told the state-run Rossiyskaya Gazeta that “foreign intelligence services” were monitoring the site, “probably a sign of concern about nuclear tests.”

“We are constantly ready to repel all types of threats, including the penetration of sabotage and reconnaissance groups on the island,” he said.

Laura Loomer, 31, angrily denies having an affair with Trump after their cozy relationship sparked a MAGA meltdown

Laura Loomer angrily denies having an affair with former President Donald Trump and makes a shocking claim about Kamala Harris.

The 31-year-old conspiracy theorist used her podcast to criticize rumors of a romantic relationship with the 78-year-old Trump, calling the rumors “malicious” and “disrespectful to Donald Trump and Melania Trump.”

She then characterized the rumors as a media conspiracy, saying Saturday, “They’ve gone so far, and you know, if I were a left-wing journalist, if I were a Democrat, oh my God, the media would be in an uproar if the Republican media did this to a left-wing journalist.”

“Oh my God, they’re misogynists, they’re bullying a woman, they’re trying to paint Monica Lewinsky, they’re trying to discredit the fact that she’s a working woman,” Loomer claimed the media would say.

Exclusive:Kamala Harris takes lead over Donald Trump in 2024 race after strong debate performance

Vice President Kamala Harris has taken the lead over Donald Trump for the first time in our DailyMail.com/JL Partners poll, following her strong performance in last week’s debate.

But the stakes are still high, with only 49 days left until the election.

Harris now holds a one-point lead over the former president in our poll of 1,000 likely voters, conducted the week after the candidates faced off in the debate in Pennsylvania.

Harris is favored by 43 percent of voters (up two percentage points from our last poll on August 13), while Trump is favored by 42 percent (down two percentage points).

This shift appears to be the result of major changes among Hispanic voters.
