Donald Trump can stream on Twitch again

Popular livestreaming platform Twitch has reinstated the official account of former President Donald Trump. The company reinstated the channel three and a half years after it suspended it “indefinitely” following the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.

Twitch lifted the ban on Trump’s account on Friday, the day after he accepted the Republican nomination for president in the 2024 election. A Twitch representative confirmed the reinstatement in a statement to Polygon on Monday, saying, “We believe there is value in hearing directly from presidential candidates when possible. Trump is now the official Republican nominee for President of the United States.”

The statement said Twitch will continue to adhere to its community guidelines and moderate the channel.

“We continue to enforce our Community Guidelines and take appropriate enforcement action when we identify violations of our rules,” the representative said. “Twitch does not have a ‘public figure policy,’ meaning that all channels are equally subject to our guidelines, regardless of whether the channel belongs to a public figure.”

Trump’s Twitch Channel was founded in October 2019, according to Twitch Tracker. It has more than 143,000 followers as of publication. His team uses it to livestream Trump’s events and rallies, and it’s back in business — Saturday’s campaign rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was streamed on the channel.
