Don Lemon returns to CNN to reveal how he ‘corrected’ black men who told him they’re voting Trump

Don Lemon has returned to CNN to talk about how he “corrected” black men who told them why they voted for Donald Trump in next month’s election.

The anchor reappeared on the network that fired him in 2023 and revealed that most of the Black men he interviewed in battleground states are pro-Trump.

“They usually said ‘for economic reasons,’” Lemon told Dana Bash.

“Or because ‘he gave me a stimulus check’ and I had to correct them again and again and tell them where the stimulus check came from.”

Don Lemon returned to CNN on Wednesday to reveal how he ‘corrected’ some black voters’ claims about Donald Trump

Lemon said he was trying to educate voters that the Democratic Congress was behind the stimulus checks, and that “Donald Trump actually stopped it so his name could be on the check so they think they got the check directly from him.”

Treasury officials denied at the time that adding Trump’s name to the stimulus checks caused delays.

Lemon noted that during his time as president, Joe Biden also “also gave one or two stimulus checks, but they don’t seem to know or understand that.”

“You can vote for whoever you want, but the reasons why you’re going to vote for them, I think they should be accurate and factual, and you should know why you’re supporting someone,” he said.

An estimated 20 percent of black American men say they will vote for Trump. Although 70 percent support Harris, that is a much lower number than the 85 percent who supported Biden in 2020

An estimated 20 percent of black American men say they will vote for Trump. Although 70 percent support Harris, that is a much lower number than the 85 percent who supported Biden in 2020

Lemon was fired by CNN in 2023 after a series of scandals, including an on-air claim that women in their 40s have reached “their prime.”

Polls show support among black men for Harris is lower than that of Joe Biden in 2020 and Hillary Clinton in 2016.

A New York Times poll last week found that 70 percent of black male voters supported Harris, and 20 percent supported Donald Trump.

Harris’ figure was significantly lower than the 85 percent who supported Joe Biden in 2020.

In a stark intervention last week, Barack Obama urged black men to vote for the Democratic candidate.

He suggested that some black men “don’t feel like having a woman as president.”

Harris is now unveiling an ‘Opportunity Agenda For Black Men’.

Her new plans include providing forgivable business loans to Black entrepreneurs, creating more apprenticeships and studying sickle cell disease and other diseases that disproportionately affect African-American men.

Harris has already said she supports the legalization of marijuana and her plan calls for ensuring black men have the opportunity to participate as a “national cannabis industry takes shape.”

The measures are aimed at attracting black votes at a time when Democrats are growing concerned that some will sit out the election or vote for her Republican opponent Donald Trump.

Harris appeared on Fox News last night for a testy interview with the anchor’s top political anchor, Brett Baier.

The latest polls show that the race between her and Donald Trump is too close to happen before the November 5 elections.
