Don Lemon has pulled out of hosting a Black History Month event after his ‘sexist’ comments about Nikki Haley landed him in trouble.

The CNN anchor was scheduled to host an event in New York today on “race and real estate” in honor of Black History Month.

But he walked away from work, after not appearing on This Morning for three days after he made comments about Republican Nikki Haley, 51, being past her prime.

The 56-year-old was ‘worried’ his comments would take over the event, according to TMZand has been replaced by John Gomes.

Gomes works for Douglas Elliman, a real estate company that organized the event.

Lemon is expected to return to the screens from Wednesday after undergoing a formal workout following a series of problematic comments on the air.

Don Lemon will return to CNN This Morning on Wednesday, but he has formal training to go through after his litany of on-air troubling comments.

CNN President Chris Licht, who has criticized Lemon’s comments, sent a memo to employees Monday saying Lemon agreed to participate in the training and would return Wednesday, according to former anchor Brian Stelter.

Lemon was seen swimming and frolicking on the beach hours after joining a CNN editorial call from Miami on Friday where he apologized to staff for his comments.

According to a memo sent to employees Monday, Licht said: “I sat down with Don and had a frank and meaningful conversation. He has agreed to participate in formal training, as well as continue to listen and learn. We take this situation very seriously.

“It’s important to me that CNN balances accountability with fostering a culture where people can own up to, learn from, and grow from their mistakes. To that end, Don will return to CNN This Morning on Wednesday.

Lemon was criticized when he made “sexist” comments on Thursday’s show when discussing Haley’s suggestion that politicians 75 and older should face mental competency tests.

During Friday’s editorial call, Lemon said: ‘I’m sorry, I don’t mean to hurt anyone. I didn’t mean to offend anyone.

‘What I said came out wrong and I wish I hadn’t said it. I believe that women of any age can do anything they set their minds to. The people closest to me in this organization are women.

“I was trying to make the point that no one’s age should define their ambition or potential for success and I was making those comments to Nikki Haley. I will continue to be who I am.

Lemon also cited his relationships with Dana Bash, Erin Burnett, Amy Entelis, and his mother and sister, according to TMZ.

The host took an unscheduled day off Monday, after traveling to Miami with his fiancée on a planned trip, which conveniently coincided with the backlash.

He also lost an interview with disgraced Congressman George Santos to TalkTV’s Piers Morgan after his comments.

Several insiders say there has been an increase in calls for Lemon to be removed from the show due to his behavior.

Harlow, Lemon, and Collins had been discussing Haley’s proposal during a speech announcing his candidacy for president.

Lemon, who is five years older than Haley, 51, said the politician should treat the issue lightly because “a woman is at her best in her 20s and 30s and maybe her 40s.”

Haley herself responded to Lemon’s comments, saying, “It’s always the liberals who are the most sexist” in a tweet with a clip from the video segment.

Lemon apologized for his comments on Thursday’s show, tweeting: “My reference to a woman’s ‘best’ this morning was naive and irrelevant, as pointed out by colleagues and loved ones, and I’m sorry.”

‘A woman’s age does not define her personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who try it every day.

Harlow reportedly stormed off set after Lemon’s comments last week and just a few weeks ago he allegedly went into a yelling fit after a broadcast because he was angry that Collins had interrupted him on air.

The best of the worst of Don Lemon

Was Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 swallowed by a black hole? – During coverage of the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 in 2014, Don Lemon asked a panel of experts if it was possible that the Boeing plane had been swallowed by a black hole:

“People say to me, why don’t you talk about the possibility, and I’m just putting it out there, that something strange happened to this plane, something beyond our understanding?” she asked.

‘What if it was something we completely don’t really understand? A lot of people have been asking about that, about black holes and stuff, and more, and more, and all these conspiracy theories,” he continued, adding comparisons to the Bermuda Triangle and the Lost TV show.

US Department of Transportation Inspector General Mary Schiavo said the theories were unlikely:

‘Well, it is. A small black hole would suck in our entire universe, so we know it’s not that. The Bermuda Triangle is often the weather. And Lost is a TV show,” she said.

Why didn’t you bite his penis? – While interviewing Bill Cosby’s sexual assault accuser Joan Tarshis, Lemon asked her why she didn’t stop him from raping her by biting her penis:

“You know, there are ways to not perform oral sex if you don’t want to,” he said.

“I was a little stoned at the time, and honestly, that didn’t even cross my mind. Now I wish I had,” Tashis said.

‘Good. That is, the use of teeth, right? Lemon asked: ‘Like a weapon.’

‘Ouch,’ said Tashis, ‘No, it didn’t cross my mind.’

Pull up your pants black people – In 2013, while speaking about Bill O’Reilly’s controversial comments that single black women should stop having children and that inner-city schools should enforce discipline, Lemon argued that the Fox News host’s plans to raising blacks were not as bold as they should be. .

“In my opinion, he doesn’t go far enough,” Lemon said, “walking around with your butt and your underwear showing is not right.” In fact, he comes from prison. When they take the belts off the prisoners so they can’t make a weapon. And then he evolved into what role each prisoner would have during male-on-male prison sex.

Lemon went on to explain that black people should stop using the N-word and refrain from littering.
